Ministry Description
Themba is a word from the languages of the Xhosa and Zulu tribes of Africa. It means "to bring hope with a promise that doesn't disappoint." That hope is found in the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ, and making that hope possible is the goal of Village South Africa.

Village South Africa endeavors to bring sustainable change to the vulnerable and impoverished children of South Africa. Our mission is to care for the orphans, support the local ministries that are investing in the Transkei community and region, and to plant long-term missionaries in those communities. In order to reach children at risk in South Africa, Village South Africa works hand-in-hand with the following ministries:

Jehovah Jireh Haven is a place of safety for vulnerable children in Alexandria in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Besides meeting their basic needs for food, clothing, and a place of safety, their need to be loved and to feel special is of the greatest importance. Jehovah Jireh Haven Children's Home currently needs volunteers for 3 weeks to 2 months to assist with the preschool (creche). Teaching skills are preferred but not required. You will assist with approximately 12-16 children. Lodging, breakfast, and lunch provided. These children have a range of learning disabilities from neglect and health to fetal alcoholism. Some children have normal learning capacities.
www.jjhaven.org.za

Alexandria Christian Academy provides the opportunity for children to obtain excellence in education through goal-setting, character training, self-discipline, and self-paced education, preparing them to thrive in a working environment. The Academy has needs for teachers/teacher aides for 3 weeks to 6 months. Volunteers will be assisting children from 1st grade through 12th grade. Alexandria Christian School use the ACE method, so you will assist the children as they do their studies. You will also help with after school activities, field trips, etc.

www.alexandria.org.za

HuntSA (Hunt South Africa) has been involved with Mission Builders International since 2006 and the Village South Africa ministries were formed through relationships with HuntSA.  HuntSA is a ministry that connects Christian sportsmen with trophy hunting in South Africa. The meat and finances from these trophy hunts are the primary means of support for Jehovah Jireh Haven and the programs that feed orphans daily in the Transkei region of South Africa. It also champions a Bible school and training opportunities for African Christian leaders. Hunters also get the opportunity to serve God by visiting hospitals and schools and encouraging full-time missionaries in the region.  For more information visit their website:

www.huntsa.com
Needs
Have a heart for outreach. We need people to help with our hospital ministry and feeding programs (see ministry information below for specific details). We are also looking for teachers and teachers aides to work with children.

Volunteers are accepted during the school term. Ministry is closed from December until the middle of January each year for Christmas break. Other dates not available are the week before and after Easter each year. June 20 - July 20 is closed for school break as is September 20 - October 10th. Housing is available on campus for volunteers and mission builders. We have several single-family residential-style homes in the Greater Fulton neighborhood of East End Richmond, all within a 5 minute walk of our 16 acre wooded campus.

Houses are typically either for males, females or families. Housing for couples is typically a private room in a shared house. Because our houses are historic, there are rarely en-suite bathrooms.

Within walking distance are the following resources: laundromat, Family Dollar, small convenience stores, auto repair, take-out food, ATM, sliding-scale full service medical clinic (B1 visa holders pay $120 flat fee), dentist, three playgrounds, BMX track, Frisbee golf, GRTC bus service, multiple churches.

Near YWAM Richmond: Virginia Capital Bike Trail (50 mi long), James River Park systems, many home-school resources, several good private school options, excellent church options, and many, MANY top-rated restaurants with relatively affordable prices. There are also many locally-focused ministries and churches with whom we collaborate and support.

We like freedoms and furry friends, however, guns are not permitted on campus, and pets are restricted to those that can remain inside the RV of their owners. Thank you for understanding.
Costs
Application Fee:

Housing for Mission Builders who are serving in one of the areas of "Immediate Need" will not be charged.

Housing on-campus per adult each month is $325 and $50/child age 3-18.There are additional costs for families that require more than one room. This includes lunches M-F during the semesters and access to our food pantry Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Mission Builders (and all personnel) prepare breakfasts, dinners, and weekend meals in campus housing or their RV. Grocery stores are located nearby and convenience stores are within walking distance. All YWAM housing has basic cooking facilities. Volunteers and mission builders may be subject to background checks. USD
Medical
Medical insurance is encouraged.

As our campus is wooded and has older buildings, only portions of the property are compatible to those with disabilities.

Ministry Description
Our vision is to equip, train and commission people of all ages whose passion for Jesus will impact the needy and make disciples in the cities of Northern California as well as unreached people groups and developing nations around the world. We do this through life-changing training schools, outreaches, youth ministries, and serving and partnering with the body of Christ.

Our beautiful location at Richardson Springs, outside of Chico, CA, is home to a thriving Youth With A Mission training center with approximately 50 full-time staff.

We offer the following foundational schools:
The Discipleship Training School (DTS), every September and January or April for ages 18 - 30. Crossroads Discipleship Training School (CDTS), for those 30 and over, single and/or single with children, this school usually runs in September, and the Family Discipleship School (FDTS), for married couples with or without children. Our next FDTS will begin in September 2021, then again in April 2022.

We also offer this secondary school:
This fall, September 2021, we will offer the Chronological - Bible Core Course (C-BCC) which is a unique 3 month bible school w/ YWAM that allows you to study God's word in the order that the events happened!
We have goals of offering a broader span of schools as the Lord leads and prepares the way.

An active place year-round, YWAM Chico is a great place to volunteer. There are always maintenance and operations jobs to work on, so bring your skills (and your RV, if you have one). Join the fun for minimum of 2 weeks or a maximum of 3 months. We can use whatever skills you have to offer! Several of our buildings require extensive remodeling work as well as ongoing maintenance and there's plenty of painting needs year round. We also have need for a small engine mechanic, plumbers and carpenters.

About Our Area
Located at the historic Richardson Springs, the hotel was opened in 1924. It hosted movie stars and Bay Area elite who came for a peaceful respite from city life and to enjoy the health spa atmosphere. Today, the gracefully designed hotel lobby welcomes you into a quieter time in our country's history.

Several mornings during the week our YWAM Chico community gather together to worship, hear a God inspired  messages from one of our Base Leadership Team members and spend time interceding for our city, state and world as God leads us.

We also have a wonderful coffee and gift shop where you can buy a delicious variety of coffee's, smoothies, snacks and apparel while relaxing and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

The area is crisscrossed with hiking trails. The Indian Lookout, the Crosses and the water falls and reservoir are popular destinations. YWAM Family Guadalajara is focused on the family sphere, discipling young people, adolescents, and children to reach the family and through the strategy of the arts (Kings Kids).

As a pioneering location, we have been in the city of Guadalajara for a year and a half, making a presence in the center of the city with DTS outreach teams or secondary schools, working with local churches for evangelism and workshops on the family.

Support with media (photos and videos for our online pages), cooking, transportation for new ministry opportunities in the city and running schools such as a Discipleship Training School (DTS).

Our desire is to have a presence in the city by working with the local church through teaching practical skills, such as painting, building, maintenance, etc. We currently receive outreach teams and assistance with all of these activities would be helpful. Hey friends and handymen and women, we need some help in Kona!

We have been operating Port YWAM Kona—a 78-room hotel facility—since July 1, 2013. This location serves as home port for our YWAM Ships vessels. It is ideal given its close proximity to Micronesia (our target for outreaches)—only 7-days sail southbound to be among the most remote islands on earth.

YWAM Ships exists to reach the isolated and forgotten with God’s love. Ships are the only way to do that in places that have no airports! Being as close as we can to the most remote is very strategic – we literally are right on their back door step and only one mile down the road from the largest University of the Nations campus – University of the Nations of Kona. We have developed a “twin” relationship with UofN Kona since our beginning, which adds great strength to all we do globally. (You can read more about this “twin” relationship in Loren’s book "Is That Really You God.")

Mission Builders are urgently needed! Our mission builders serve primarily in our "backbone" roles: kitchen, hospitality/housekeeping, and maintenance. If you have any additional specific skills, we are more than happy to discuss other opportunities or roles you could fill!
Needs
We also need help aboard our vessel the YWAM Liberty located in Papua New Guinea. We desire to give medical care to the most isolated peoples, and we invite you to come and serve with us and make an impact in the nation of PNG! If you are interested, please check out our other page on missionbuilders.org (the mvYWAM Liberty) and apply today! https://www.facebook.com/ywamshipskona

About Our Area
The Island of Hawaii is an amazing island with an incredibly diverse landscape. Kona is always sunny and warm. Port YWAM is situated right on Ali’i Drive among all the shops and right across the street from the pier and the only actual swimming beach in downtown Kona. Swimmers and paddle boarders enter and exit the water right across from us, and the snorkeling is some of the best in town.. We have a large deck looking out over the water--perfect for relaxing in the evenings--and a pool for your enjoyment.

YWAM Madison trains people to show God’s love to the world, sending them into the nations as well as sharing the gospel in our own city. We offer a wide range of Christian training including Bible studies, workshops, seminars and programs for people from ages 13 and up.

YWAM Madison hosts the Discipleship Training School (DTS), which is the entry point into YWAM and its University of the Nations. We also offer secondary schools including: Bible School for the Nations, and School of Biblical Christian Worldview.

Our various ministry locations include:
YWAM PHOS House: The Phos House is a 100-year-old house on Frat Row on the campus of the University of Wisconsin. The Phos House provides a “missional” housing atmosphere for students pursuing degrees at the University of Wisconsin.

The Training Center (TC): Our Training Center is a former elementary school that was purchased by YWAM in 1995 to accommodate our training schools, seminars and retreats. It is located in the countryside (and surrounded by farms and cornfields) near Columbus, WI. RV sites are available here.

YWAM Global Missions Center (GMC): Our main offices and second level training schools are located on the north side of Madison at this former church building, which sits on 4 acres of land.

About Our Area
Wisconsin may be known for their cheese and cows, but there are many things that put Wisconsin on the map internationally. Madison, Wisconsin’s capitol, is a friendly and beautiful city alive with vibrant culture, activism, and mid-western values. It is most known for being home to the University of Wisconsin, which was founded in 1848.

As we have three separate locations spread across 25 miles, access to a vehicle is helpful, although not required.

About Our Area
This unique location is creatively designed and situated in a rural area. It originated during the Hippie movement, and the facilities reflect some of their independent, free thinking attitudes. The area is located close to the beautiful California coast on the famous Highway 101. Visitors are near to the ocean, have ready access to the giant redwoods, and could make a day trip to San Francisco or weekend at Yosemite National Park.

The complex is between Mendocino and Albion and served by the Albion post office. The community of Albion began as a sawmill operation while under the control of Mexico and has seen many changes through the years. Mendocino was a logging community, which has become popular as an artists' haven and vacation destination.

The location is on the California coast, about 250 miles north of San Francisco, so the temperatures are cool with summer highs in the 60s and winter lows in the 40s. Expect rain and fog in addition to sunshine. Tourist attractions include ocean, hiking, wine tasting, and sightseeing in nearby towns.

For more information on surrounding attractions near Mendocino please visit: www.mendocino.com/activities.html
