Ministry Description
Hey mechanic friends and handymen and women, we need some help in Kona!

We have been operating Port YWAM Kona—a 78-room hotel facility—since July 1, 2013. This location serves as home port for our YWAM Ships vessels. It is ideal given its close proximity to Micronesia (our target for outreaches)—only 7-days sail southbound to be among the most remote islands on earth.

YWAM Ships exists to reach the isolated and forgotten with God’s love. Ships are the only way to do that in places that have no airports! Being as close as we can to the most remote is very strategic – we literally are right on their back door step and only one mile down the road from the largest University of the Nations campus – University of the Nations of Kona. We have developed a “twin” relationship with UofN Kona since our beginning, which adds great strength to all we do globally. (You can read more about this “twin” relationship in Loren’s book Is That Really You God.)

Mission Builders are urgently needed!

You can live at Port YWAM Kona and work on board our yacht each day, returning to Port YWAM each night. She is moored in the Kona Honokohau Marina.

The Makana has a bunch of maintenance items in need of attention.

Let us know if you can help. Contact fleetsupport@ywamships.net and chat with Capt. Ann Ford.

About Our Area
The Island of Hawaii is an amazing island with an incredibly diverse landscape. Kona is always sunny and warm. Port YWAM is situated right on Ali’i Drive among all the shops and right across the street from the pier and the only actual swimming beach in downtown Kona. Swimmers and paddle boarders enter and exit the water right across from us, and the snorkeling is the best in town, with dolphins filling the bay where our sailboat in moored. We have a large patio looking out over the water--perfect for relaxing in the evenings--and a pool for your enjoyment.

Ministry Description
Our mission is to feed people, not just spiritually, but physically by gleaning, processing and distributing surplus food and goods through our local and international partners. In unity with our local volunteers and YWAM, we care for the unfortunate of the world by sharing our blessings. Our vision is to utilize a variety of networks to share donated, nutritious food, medical equipment, furniture, printed material and other beneficial goods to meet the needs of all. We run a Discipleship Training School (DTS) and four other different programs including fish processing and a food bank in Redmond, Oregon; a food bank in Lacey, Washington, and another food bank in Mayan Bolas, Guatemala.

Volunteers are often times our greatest need. We receive tens of thousands of pounds of fish annually that need to be filleted and/or processed for canning. We also receive millions of pounds of food annually that needs to be cleaned, sorted, and transported throughout our organization. We are in the process of acquiring property to build the YWAM base.

Special Note: We require that mission builders arrive on a Thursday of any given month. This will make your transition into life at YWAM LA much more smooth. For departures, we can arrange a ride for you on the first business day after your last day of work.

Minimum Stay: 3 weeks Maximum Stay: 3 months
Ministry Description
We are a passionate community of people who love Jesus and are committed to seeing Him transform lives. Come and join us as we serve our city, our region and the nations through innovative expressions of Jesus' kingdom. As you serve on our campus, you’ll be an essential part of our YWAM community, joining us for our fellowship, worship, intercession and other gatherings. You may also have the opportunity to participate in some of our campus outreach ministries.

How you can help:

YWAM Los Angeles is looking for volunteers to lend a helping hand for anywhere from two weeks to three months (we need volunteers who are pretty fluent in English). If you have any specific skills such as photography/videography or any other training we may be able to allow you to work on our communications team or another department, but this is not the norm.

Best time to come: Most times of the year are good. However, please note that we are closed for 2 weeks at Christmas for Christmas break and for a few days in July for our annual staff retreat.

Typical daily schedule (this may differ slightly depending on the department you serve in):

8:30am-12:30pm: work hours* (see note below)
9:30am: break for all base tea-time
12:30pm-5pm: work hours
5:30pm: dinner
(*note: on Monday's and Thursday's morning work hours are 10am-12:30pm because we have worship and prayer times between 8:30am and 9:30am, so work begins after tea-time).

We also have community nights once a month on a Thursday evening

Ministry Description
Our story begins with the passion we have in our hearts for Jesus and that He might be worshiped among the nations. Each generation has the responsibility and the privilege of responding to Christ’s Great Commission to “GO” and bring the gospel to the nations in their generation.

In 2006 a team of 6 were sent out from YWAM Pittsburgh with prayers and affirmation to begin a new work in Boston. It was an exciting challenge to plant a missionary outreach and training center in this city. Since then, the team has grown to 24 staff and now has a multi-focused ministry to the people of Boston, New England and to the nations.

It has been so inspiring to meet pastors and leaders here in Boston who have been diligently working to further the kingdom here. We have established some wonderful relationships with strategic churches and believers. We have ministered in youth groups, church services, and Christian school assemblies. Weekly outreaches using “prayer stations,” worship music and free coffee on the city streets have been very successful, with hundreds hearing about Jesus Christ, many for the first time.

From its founding in 1630, Boston has been a city of historic significance. The founding fathers laid the foundations for this city to be a beacon for His glory, with a sense of destiny that believers here would influence our nation as well as all the nations. Today, Boston is one of the most significant and strategic cities in the world. With its 100+ colleges and universities, Boston is a place where the world gathers. 250,000 university students (44,000 of which are internationals) are drawn to our institutions of higher learning. The very people we are called to go and reach have come to us.

Ministry Description
Themba is a word from the languages of the Xhosa and Zulu tribes of Africa. It means "to bring hope with a promise that doesn't disappoint." That hope is found in the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ, and making that hope possible is the goal of Village South Africa.

Village South Africa endeavors to bring sustainable change to the vulnerable and impoverished children of South Africa. Our mission is to care for the orphans, support the local ministries that are investing into the Transkei community and region, and to plant long-term missionaries in those communities. In order to reach children at risk in South Africa, Village South Africa works hand-in-hand with the following ministries:

Jehovah Jireh Haven is a place of safety for vulnerable children in Alexandria in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Besides meeting their basic needs for food, clothing, and a place of safety, their need to be loved and to feel special is of the greatest importance. Jehovah Jireh Haven Children's Home currently needs volunteers for 3 weeks to 2 months to assist with the preschool (creche). Teaching skills are preferred but not required. You will assist with approximately 12-16 children. Lodging, breakfast and lunch provided. These children have a range of learning disabilities from neglect and health to fetal alcoholism. Some children have normal learning capacities.

www.jjhaven.org.za

Alexandria Christian Academy provides the opportunity for children to obtain excellence in education through goal-setting, character training, self-discipline and self-paced education, preparing them to thrive in a working environment. The Academy has needs for teachers/teacher aides for 3 weeks to 6 months. Volunteers will be assisting children from 1st grade through 12th grade. Alexandria Christian School use the ACE method, so you will assist the children as they do their studies. You will also help with after school activities, field trips, etc.

www.alexandria.org.za

HuntSA (Hunt South Africa) has been involved with Mission Builders International since 2006 and the Village South Africa ministries were formed through relationships with HuntSA.  HuntSA  is a ministry that connects Christian sportsmen with trophy hunting in South Africa. The meat and finances from these trophy hunts are the primary means of support for Jehovah Jireh Haven and the programs that feed orphans daily in the Transkei region of South Africa. It also champions a Bible school and training opportunities for African Christian leaders. Hunters also get the opportunity to serve God by visiting hospitals and schools and encouraging full-time missionaries in the region.  For more information visit their website:  Christian

Needs

About Our Area
Since its incorporation in 1853, Kansas City has grown into a diverse metropolitan area of over 2 million people with a rich history embodied by its many slogans: the City of Fountains, the Paris of the Plains, Home of the KC Chiefs and Royals, the Heart of America and the Barbeque Capital of the World, to name a few.

At the confluence of the Missouri and Kansas rivers, the city spans the Kansas/ Missouri border. Early on, the railroad industry identified Kansas City as a crucial logistical hub after Hannibal Bridge--the first bridge to cross the Missouri River--was built in 1869.

Today, Kansas City is a major center for technology-oriented business and distribution. Kansas City also offers numerous cultural amenities including the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, the National World War I Museum and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

About Our Area
YWAM Minneapolis is located on an 80-acre campus, about 45 minutes west of downtown Minneapolis, in the little town of Rockford. Our campus is surrounded by woods, fields, and wetlands. Despite the beauty, there are unreached people groups, in one of the world's most diverse urban centers, less than an hour away.

YWAM Minneapolis is a bilingual English-Spanish campus. Many of the staff and students are from Latin America, and many outreaches are focused in that region. We also have many local Minnesotans and North Americans.

Nearby attractions include Mall of America, Minnehaha Falls on the Mississippi River, and Eat Street. Minneapolis also has many excellent lakes, art shows, museums, and theaters.
