What Is a Hero?
MBI believes YWAM’s frontline missionaries are heroes as they engage the nations with the mercy and gospel of Christ. We aim to provide the practical training and resources they need to thrive in their calling. We also believe that our Mission Builder volunteers are heroes because they sacrifice their time, skills, and sometimes retirement to work alongside YWAM missionaries for kingdom purposes. Remembering an Extraordinary Mission Builder: How Doris Helton Helped Change the World
Frontline YWAM missionaries are MBI’s heroes. We recognize another invaluable hero—the Mission Builder volunteer who selflessly spends their time and skills to help meet the practical needs of global YWAM missionaries. One of MBI’s most ardent volunteer heroes went to be with her Lord and Savior in March of this year.
The Need to Be Heard
MBI’s goal is to help YWAM missionaries succeed and flourish in life and ministry so they can serve on the mission field long-term. One way we do this is by partnering with other trained debriefers to offer debriefing services to missionaries globally. As one individual said, “Sometimes we just need to be heard.”

Body and Soul: Sharing God’s Practical Love
It’s no secret that poverty and hunger plague communities of people at home and abroad, from rural villages to inner cities to drought-stricken and war-torn nations. YWAM missionaries know feeding and caring for impoverished men, women, and children is a powerful part of its mandate to make God known.
Security and Success in Missions
Global YWAM missionaries sometimes find themselves overwhelmed by needs and circumstances beyond their control despite diligent efforts. MBI provides the practical help and training they need to thrive in the face of diverse challenges. The ministries of YWAM Tijuana and YWAM Ensenada in Mexico were suffering from high-level theft, riots, and cartel activities. They reached out for help from MBI’s Mission 91.
